After working as a Japanese-style painter, MASATO. entered the world of Sofubi toys and created his character Sofubi, “MARKARO”. From 12 pm on Aug 26, a solo exhibition will be held at T-BASE JAPAN Ginza Gallery for a limited time!

We will also pre-sell the new “PRIME1 STUDIO x MARKARO ®️”!
(20 pieces on a first-come, first-served basis)

■ MARKARO
“O-fudo-sama (Acala)’s messenger”
A tiny little Buddha born from a piece of flame.
His head is a lion, and body a human, and hair a flame in which the Kalura Flame (Fire Bird Karura) dwells.
A 10cm long, mischievous boy.
He has a sword and snare which houses the treasured sword; Kulika (black dragon).
Normally only one flame (white), but when a terrible evil appears, it splits into five flames; east (blue), west (yellow), south (red), and north (black).

■ Artist Biography:
After working as a Japanese-style painter, he entered the world of Sofubi toys as an artist.

May 29, 2010 – “MARKARO” was born.
Jun 23, 2010 – Goods sales (T-shirts & sweatshirts, etc.)
Jan 8 – Mar 1, 2011 – Production of prototype mold of “MARKARO” (for resin)
Apr. 3, 2011- Sales of MARKARO (for resin)
2013 – “MONOZUKURI JIPANG” group formed

Jan 13 – Jan 31, 2013 – “MARKARO” exhibited at “Monozukuri Week” at 2K540, Okachimachi, organized by Yuusyokuya Boo.
Jan 2014 – Requested a friend’s prototype maker (9works) to modify a MARKARO Sofubi prototype & to produce a WAX prototype and mold.

To date – he has been exhibiting resin, Sofubi, and other goods at café galleries in Kyoto, Nagoya, Tokyo, and Tsukuba City, selling them at festivals, and holding solo exhibitions.
