Kazumitsu Akamatsu solo exhibition “Destroy all monsters 11” June 14th (Fri) – 16th (Sun), 2024, Gallery The Powder Room, Hollywood
This is his second solo exhibition at HOLLYWOOD after Ginza. The venue is Gallery The Powder Room on Cohenga Street, where comedy kings such as Chaplin, Keaton, and Lloyd used to film.
This time, Akihiko Iguchi has been invited as a special guest.
T-BASE will also be participating.
Born in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture in 1962. Prefectural Shibukawa Nishi High School (currently Shibukawa Seisui High School) Kenai 6 (originated by Mr. Akamatsu), international student at the Faculty of Saiaki, Chuo University, currently enrolled at the university.
During his studies, he worked as an assistant at Naritatei (1929-2002, famous as the general designer of Ultraman, Ultra Seven, etc.) on film special effects sites (Mahjong Wandering Chronicles, Skepan Keiji, etc.), and learned the basics of painting at the Narita Art School.
He began a serial in the magazine “Uchuusen,” and published examples of his work in other model magazines, etc. After graduating from university, he joined Takara Co., Ltd. (now Takara Tomy) and was involved in the planning, development, and commercialization of such works as Lica-chan, Jenny, The Game of Life, Transformers, G.[Joe], Norakuro-kun, Flower Rock, Chibimaru Ryo-chan, Akazukin Chacha, Gakuen no Hanako-san, Mashin Hero Wataru, Madö King Granzört, Future GPX Cyber Formula, Yoroiden Samurai Troopers, God Liger, X-Men, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Cybercop, The Brave Express Might Gaine, The Brave Police J-Decker, Brave Command Dagwon, The Brave of Gold Goldran, The King of Braves GaoGaiGar, and Gridman the Hyper Agent, as well as the planning, production, and release of OVAs in the video division.
He is also a kendo and kyudo black belt, and plays the electric organ.
Akihiko Iguchi (born June 29, 1943)
Production designer, art director, special effects art director, head of GAM, designer of Toho and Tsuburaya monsters and heroes. Born into the Iguchi family, his eldest son, Takahashi Hajime, is a special effects TV and film cameraman, and after marriage he took his wife’s surname and started working under the name Takahashi Akihiko, signing off with Akihiko. His eldest daughter, Takahashi Reika, is a CG designer who has worked on projects such as Hatsune Miku.
