Yasuyuki Kobayashi’s popular characters “Mikan Kappa” and “Giant Curry Kaiju Karegon” will appear at T-BASE JAPAN Ginza Gallery in collaboration with traditional Japanese crafts.
These traditional artworks, decorated by Eriko Terashima of Akari Koubou, are craftworks of “Raden” and “Foil stamping”, which was born in Kanazawa (Ishikawa Prefecture).
“Raden” (sea shell inlay) is a traditional lacquer craft technique using thinned shiny parts of shells such as Abalone, Green Turban, and Mother of Pearl.
“Foil stamping” is a typical decoration technique used for Wajima and Kanazawa lacquerware. Pure gold, platinum, and other metals are spread thinly to 1/10,000 to 1.2/10,000 millimeters for use. 97% of the domestically produced gold leaf is made in Kanazawa.
