Here are the release information about collaborations between Sofvi and Japanese traditional crafts – to be released on January 2023.
These traditional artworks, decorated by Eriko Terashima of Akari Koubou, are works of “Raden” and “Foil Stamping”, which was born in Kanazawa.
“Raden” (sea shell inlay) is a traditional lacquer craft technique using thinned shiny parts of shells such as Abalone, Green Turban, and Mother of Pearl.
“Foil stamping” is a typical decoration technique used for Wajima and Kanazawa lacquerware. Pure gold, platinum, and other metals are spread thinly to 1/10,000 to 1.2/10,000 millimeters for use. 97% of the domestically produced gold leaf is made in Kanazawa.
The collaboration works introduced here are those with these four artists:
■ TOUMA: KNUCKLE BEAR with Raden, Foil Stamping
■ nekorat: DORAPOLYGON with Raden, Foil Stamping
■ OtaCream: Gecchari Robo with Raden, Foil Stamping
